Keeping Safe After Hours
There are a
lot of social activities going on at and around UNM at night. Please keep
safety in mind on your night out.
Safety in social settings:
- If you are in familiar surroundings,
such as your apartment, or your friend’s house, you are more likely to let your
guard down. Students tend to drink more in these settings than at clubs or bars
and may put themselves in dangerous situations.
Many sexual assaults on campus occur after excessive use of alcohol as someone
the affected student knows or just met goes back to that student’s room with

Alcohol studies have been done by COSAP with UNM Students. Check it out. The results may not be

Did you know you can use the timer on your Lobo Guardian app as a way to
communicate with a friend when to meet? You can set the timer and tell your
friend that when the timer goes off it is time to check in on each other.
Call for Medical Services. Alcohol poisoning and drug overdoses can be lethal
