The University of New Mexico Police Department (UNMPD) has an authorized strength of 35 sworn, certified, and commissioned police officers on the force. Each officer is required to meet state certification standards and has full authority to enforce all applicable laws, ordinances, and traffic regulations. The University of New Mexico Police Department investigates complaints and criminal activity and works closely with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure effective prosecution.
