As you scroll through our site you'll see that we are a very progressive department in a very diverse community. Established in 1947 the University of New Mexico Police Department has a long and rich history in serving and protecting it's community.

The University of New Mexico was established in 1889 and is located near downtown Albuquerque. Surrounded by the beautiful city of Albuquerque, the largest city in the state 640,000 population, the University of New Mexico consist of approximately 50,000 people on any given day. This makes the University of New Mexico a city inside a city.

We are very proud to continue the tradition of serving and protecting The University of New Mexico through community policing. We've come a long way since 1947 but we've never lost sight of our duty, keeping our community safe. With highly trained personnel and state of the art equipment we take pride in our day to day service to the University of New Mexico Community. As we draw our strength from the input and support of our community we will, in partnership, endeavor to be one of the best police department's in the state.
